On August 21-25, 2023, the 26th International Refrigeration Congress (ICR2023) hosted by the International Institute of Refrigeration was held in Paris, France. The theme of this conference is "Towards efficient, controlled and smart Refrigeration", focusing on the important impact of refrigeration technology on the sustainable development of human society and related frontier development directions. Li Xiaohu, Vice chairman and Secretary general of the Chinese Society of Refrigeration, led a delegation to participate in the conference, and held talks with the International Society of Refrigeration on China's upgrading to a first-level member State and strengthening cooperation with the International Society of Refrigeration.
This conference gathered more than 1,000 scholars and experts from 58 countries around the world, and conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the latest research progress, development trends and future prospects of refrigeration related fields and cross-research. The conference received more than 1,000 abstracts, included more than 470 papers, held 99 technical forums, invited 14 thematic presentations, conducted 453 oral presentations, and 25 posted presentations.
Honorary Member Award, IJR Award, Young Scholar Award, Best Paper Award, STC Award, Gustav Lorentzen Award and Merit Award were presented at the meeting. Among them, 4 young scholars from China won the IIR Young Researcher Award (a total of 7) : Xu Jingyuan (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, graduate of the Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences) received the Sadi Carnot Award, Li Jun (University of Michigan, graduate of Shanghai Jiao Tong University) received the James Joule Award, Tang Yuan (National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, graduate of Zhejiang University, USA) received the Peter Kapitza Award, Chen Jianye (Huazhong University of Science and Technology, graduated from Zhejiang University) received the Carl von Linde Award; Shao Zhao, a PhD student at the Institute of Refrigeration of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, won the first place in the Best Student paper competition of the International Society of Refrigeration.
The International Refrigeration Congress (ICR) is held every four years, and has been successfully held 26 sessions, and the 27th International Refrigeration Congress will be held in Seoul, South Korea, on August 21-27, 2027.
